The male and female basketball teams of Ghana’s premier university, University of Ghana (UG) head to Tamale today to compete at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
This year’s edition of the biannual competition will be held at the University of Development Studies in Ghana’s Northern Region.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday January 4; the closing ceremony of the multi sport competition is expected to be held on January 20.
UG’s Male side are the reigning champions of the competition following a win over University of Professional Studies (UPSA) at the 2016 Championship held at the University of Education-Winneba.
The new look team which features several new players is highly rated despite the loss of key players like Joshua Akai and Aziz Abubakar due to the presence of holdovers including Emmanuel Wolff.
The team will be playing to defend the trophy and its unbeaten run which dates prior to the legendary 2016 season where the side won the All Africa University Games.
