For the second time in three games Akatsi Rifles failed to show up to compete in the Tema Basketball League preseason competition-Campaign Tournament.
The Akatsi side was scheduled to play against Ghana Police in the opening game of the past round but the tie was not honored following the former’s failure to show up.
Rifles missed its maiden game in the tournament against Francophone Stars under similar circumstances handing Francophone the game’s win.
Police earns the win via forfeiture which pushes the team into the semifinals without suffering a loss at the group stage.
However, games were played at the Tema Community 4 Court with Ashaiman Lions beating Tema Heat 41-39 in a close fought encounter.
Lions maintain its unbeaten run in the competition and have a chance of finally making good on their status as one of the best teams by clinching a title.
Ghana Navy won its maiden game in the tournament but fell 35-46 to Francophone Stars in the final game of the round.
The start date for the 2018 Tema League is still in the works.
