Darkside, an Adenta, Dansoman select side won the Lace Up Tournament after beating Sakumono All Stars in the final game of the competition.
The tournament took place at the Sakumono Community Court and had several teams turn up for the one day showcase of elite community basketball.
Per organizers KwameBoamah Djan and Nana Owusu Afriyie, the main goal of the tournament is to “revive the spirit and culture of competitive basketball in Sakumono and honor Wendell Otoo for his commitment, splendid management and service to Coldstore in 2017”.
Otoo is lead manager of Tema Basketball League outfit Nungua Coldstore who won the 2016 Leaue title and placed fourth this year.
Community based teams that participated in the competition include Miners from Cantonments, Coldstore, Sakumono All Stars, Arrows, Teshie Vikings and Darkside.
University of Professional Studies Male Basketball Team was present as the team continues preparations for the upcoming Ghana University Sports Association Games.
The competition was sponsored by Nungua Warehouse Company Limited and Carabao Energy Drink.
