Heading to Week Four of the 2017-2018 Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League season, neither West Siders nor Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG Saints) had registered a win.
However, following games played over the weekend at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani, West Siders finally clinched its maiden win of the campaign.
The team beat CUCG Saints 37-11 in the second game of the round which had three other ties honored at the league venue.
Obed Offei led West Siders in scoring with 12 points which paced the low offensive game which had Saints Michael Adu top score for his side with seven points.
The win lifts Siders from the standings bottom rank to seventh but its win in four game record is tied with two teams including Saints.
Sunyani Technical University (STU) has the same record but a better goal difference puts the tertiary side in fourth ahead of West Siders and CUCG.
STU lost 18-33 to LIR Royals while Barracks Scorpions lost 33-36 to Desert Rabbits and defending champs UENR beat Suncity Braves 41-29.
