The first round of games in the Tema Basketball League Pre season competition-“Campaign Tournament” should have been played at the time of publication.
However, ties scheduled to be honored over this past weekend at Tema’s Community 4 Court did not come off as planned as the league board announced a postponement.
Heavy rain that hit most parts of Ghana’s capital region left the court in no condition to have a game played on forcing officials to cancel three games.
Hours later, the second batch of three games were also called off following several changes to the roster at the final stages of preparation.
With eight teams set to participate in the competition, Ghana Police and Tema Rockets came in as late replacements for University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Akatsi Rifles.
This came after Rifles replaced 2016 League Champions Nungua Coldstore following the latter’s withdrawal from the competition due to what Coach Ken Caesar termed “house cleaning”.
Officials planned to announce a new date and schedule after the changes but four days after, the planned action is yet to be effected.
