University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Male Basketball Team will not compete in the Tema Basketball League preseason competition.
The competition dubbed “Campaign Tournament” will not feature in the tertiary side after signs indicated they were set to play this month.
UPSA was scheduled to replace Ghana Police on the roster of teams set to compete in the eight team tournament but that changed.
Police forwarded their commitment to play at the last turn of events rendering UPSA without a slot; Tema Rockets-who featured in a playoff tie for a spot a few weeks back-, got the remaining open slot after Akatsi Rifles withdrew.
Information gathered by Basketballghana.com indicates UPSA viewed competing at the event as ideal preparations for the upcoming Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games next year.
The Games will take place in Tamale from January 4-20 at the University of Development Studies. UPSA missed out on collecting a gold medal at the last edition held in 2016 after falling to University of Ghana in the final.
Games in the opening round of the Campaign Tournament have been postponed to a yet to be known date.
