Former winners Sacred Heart Senior High School and Achimota School are set to compete in the Greater Accra Regional Qualifiers later today.
The qualifying games will determine which schools will represent the region at Ghana’s High School Basketball Championship-Sprite Ball.
Both teams have been missing entirely from the competition for several years after dominating the tournament in the early years.
Games will be played today at the University of Professional Studies with those in the boys division set to be played at PRESEC-Legon.
Achimota placed third at the maiden edition in 2007 while Sacred Heart wining the competition in back to back years in 2009 and 2010.
The teams will feature in the Girls division of the qualifiers aiming to secure one of two slots at the national games which take place from January 4-6, 2018 at El Wak Stadium.
Teams competing for spots at next year’s Sprite Ball are Accra Wesley Girls, West Africa Senior High, Labone Senior High, Accra High School, Chemu Senior High and Tema Senior High School.
Sacred Heart will also feature in the boys division against the likes of host PRESEC-Legon and St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School. The team exited the quarterfinals at the last edition of Sprite Ball.
