Finalist at the January 2016 edition of Sprite Ball, Accra Wesley Girls is in line to book a spot to the national championship slated for January 4-6, 2018.
The team is among eight teams that will compete for slots to represent the Greater Accra Region at next year’s edition of Ghana’s High School Basketball Championship.
West Africa Senior High, Achimota School, Sacred Heart, Labone Senior High, Accra High School, Chemu Senior High
School and Tema Senior High School round up the list of schools participating in tomorrow’s qualifiers.
Former winners St. Mary’s Senior High School will not compete in the qualifiers which will be played on Saturday, December 8.
St. Mary’s won the first edition in 2007 with Sacred Heart following up with back to back titles in 2009 and 2010. Achimota placed third in the maiden edition.
However, teams from Accra have struggled in recent editions; Wesley Girls Cape-Coast are the reigning champions.
Games will be played at the University of Professional Studies with fixtures in the boys division to be played at PRESEC-Legon.
