Final games at the just ended Central Region Basketball Qualifiers have been distinctly marked with close results as Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High School topped.

Both teams won the male and female divisions respectively ahead of Ghana’s National High School Championship which takes place from January 4-6, 2018 in Accra.

Mfantsipim beat arch rival St.Augustine’s College 20-18 in the final game after both schools secured passage to the national games by topping the preliminary groups.

Adisadel College piped Insaniyya Senior High School 27-25 to place third.

The same tune was played in the girls final game between reigning National Champions Wesley Girls High School and former champions Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School.

Wesley Girls triumphed 12-11 after storming back from a 6-9 deficit in the first half; the final was physical and Aggrey’s technical team expressed dissatisfaction with officiating at the end of the game.

Both teams will represent the region but Swedru Business School capped off an impressive run with a a 27-3 win over Adankwaman Senior High School to place third.

Swedru beat big weight Holy Child School 14-9 in the preliminary stage while Adankwaman sealed place behind Wesley Girls in Group A.
