Little known Adankwaman Senior High School and Insaniyya Senior High School have surprised observers and pundits following impressive showings at the Central Regional Qualifiers.
The qualifiers will determine teams to represent the region at Ghana’s National High School Basketball Championship (Sprite Ball) next year.
The next edition of Sprite Ball takes place at the El Wak Stadium in Accra from January 4-6, 2018 with 16 boys’ schools and 10 schools set to compete.
Despite missing out on the final slots Adankwaman and Insaniyya impressed in the preliminary stage and will battle for third place in the girls and boys division respectively.
Adankwaman takes on Swedru Business School in the bronze medal game in the female division after placing second in Group A behind reigning National Champions Wesley Girls High School.
Insaniyya on the other hand, beat Winneba Senior High School to place second behind St. Augustine’s College in Group A.
The team will play against Adisadel College for third place in the boys division. Heavyweights Augustine’s, Mfantsipim will battle for first place with Wesley Girls and Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion doing same in the girls division.
