Mfantsipim (red) piped Adisco to the final.
Augustine’s (white) beat Winneba.

Mfantsipim School has beaten rival Adisadel College 19-16 in a fiercely contested game in Group B of the Central Regional Qualifiers taking place in Cape-Coast.

The record winners of Ghana’s National High School Basketball Championship (Sprite Ball) clinched the win to record its second in the ongoing competition at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

Beating Adisadel effectively seals Mfantsipim’s passage to the final game and a spot at the National Championship due to be held at the El Wak Stadium in Accra from January 4-6, 2018.

Mfantsipim was made to sweat for the victory as Adisadel applied a lot of pressure on defense to force the boys in red into uncomfortable situations resulting in several turnovers.

The score was tied at 9 at the end of the first half but Mfantsipim responded well in the second half by capitalizing on sloppy play from Adisadel to score three consecutive break away baskets to seal the win.

Its opponent in the final, St. Augustine’s College walloped Winneba Senior High School 41-11 to lead Group A with maximum points from two games.

Adisadel College will play surprise package Insaniyya Senior High School for third place; Adisadel beat Adankwaman Senior High School 39-19 in the opening game.
