Mfantseman Girls Senior High School Basketball Coach Ernest Koomson is bemoaning another missed opportunity for his charges to show off their skills at Ghana’s High School Basketball tournament.
The Sprite Ball Championship is the country’s most celebrated basketball competition but Mfantseman will miss out for the second straight year due to what Koomson deems as unfair treatment by Central Region authorities.
Qualifying games in the region takes place on Tuesday December 5 at the Robert Mensah Stadium with reigning girls division champions Wesley Girls High School competing.
Former winners Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion, Swedru School of Business, Winneba Senior High School, Adankwaman Senior High School and Holy Child College complete the roster.
Saltpond-based Mfantseman on the other hand, will not feature in the qualifiers despite the best efforts of Koomson and the rest of the technical team to get the team ready.
“We have the better side to compete at the national level. My girls are frustrated now” he said in response his team’s omission.
According to Koomson hi side had to be selected alongside Aggrey from the zonal level but got sidelined due to a supposed “beef” between the school and some personalities at the regional office.
