Nungua Coldstore will not participate in the upcoming Tema League Campaign Tournament according to reports reaching Basktballghana.com.
The preseason competition commences December 9 and is due to end December 24 with games to be played at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
Coldstore was scheduled to play Ashaiman Lions, Tema Heat and Tema Community 2 in the competition but the team’s withdrawal alters the fixture list.
According to League Secretary Prince Owusu,” no amendments shall be made to the timetable” and the tournament will go on as planned.
Coldstore Coach Kenneth Caesar stated his team’s decision to withdraw from the competition is due to “house cleaning”.
The 2016 Tema League Champions were set to reignite their rivalry with 2017 League Finalist Ashaiman later this month prior to the withdrawal.
Nungua’s absence also means the team won’t be able to defend its pre season crown it won prior to the just ended league campaign.
Akatsi Rifles have since been called up to replace Coldstore. Group A has reigning league champions Tema Community 4 competing.
