Barracks Scorpions lead the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League after the opening round following a big win over Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG Saints).
Scorpions beat CUCG 46-14 in the first game of the season blitzing Saints in the second half to a big win after overcoming a slow 6-5 first quarter lead.
The massive win puts Barracks ahead of fellow winners in the first round, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Suncity Braves in the standings.
UENR beat Desert Rabbits 35-17 in the final game of the day and commence its title defense on a good note.
The defending champions lie second in the standings behind Barracks Scorpions with Braves falling in third place after a hard fought 41-39 win over LIR.
LIR missed out on sending the game to overtime in the standout tie of the day and fall to fourth place due to the two point deficit.
Rabbits and Saints are ranked fifth and sixth in the standings . Below is a full breakdown of the standings:
