Defending Champions University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) beat Desert Rabbits 35-17 to get its title defense underway.
The tie was the final fixture of the day as UENR needed a lightning quick start to get past Rabbits courtesy a 12-2 final quarter result.
Rabbits found its footing in the game in the latter quarters but it proved too late to close the gap and force overtime.
Last season’s first runner up Suncity Braves survived LIR’s onslaught to clinch a 41-39 win in themost compeling game of the round.
The second game in the round proved to be the most competitive game as leads changed rapidly in the closely fought contest.
Winning the final quarter 12-10 proved to be the difference in the game; Braves won the league in the 2015-2016 season.
Barracks Scorpions won the opening tie courtesy a 46-14 win to record the largest win of the fixtures.
