The 2017-2018 Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League will roll out with Sunyani Technical University (STU) and West Siders not featuring.
Reports reaching Basketballghana.com from the league’s Public Relations unit indicate both teams missed the Thursday, November 23 deadline.
Both teams were given an extended period to meet league requirements and register to compete in the upcoming season.
However, neither team met the deadline and will be sidelined in the competition for the first time since the league commenced.
STU and Scorpions have been part of the division’s roster since its maiden season in 2015 but miss out on the 2017-2018 season.
The new season tips off on Saturday, November 25 at Eusbett Court with Barracks Scorpions taking on Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG Saints) in the opening game at 15:30 GMT.
A player and team photo shoot will be conducted prior to a media session before games commence at the venue.
LIR play Suncit Braves in the second game and defending champions University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) take on Desert Rabbits in the final game at 17:30 GMT.
