Angola’s National Male Basketball Team will be in action tonight as Africa’s World Cup qualifying campaign tips off.
The team is set to face Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and Morocco in the toughest group of the first phase of Group C qualifiers in Luanda.
Ahead of the games which end on November 26, new Coach of the record winning Africa Nations Championship (AfroBasket) winners Will Voigt has made major changes to his roster.
As promised following his appointment, Voigt has set his rebuilding plan rolling by picking youngsters Alexandre Joao Jungo and Gerson Domingos for this weekend’s qualifiers.
20 year old Jungo and 21 year old Domingos are part of a 12 man team featuring old heads Carlos Morais, Yanick Moreira and Reggie Moore.
Angola is under pressure to bounce back from a poor 2017 AfroBasket campaign where the team got bundled out of the quarterfinals by Morocco.
Only the top three teams progress to the next stage where qualified teams face off in home and away matchups.
