Kumasi Girls High Senior High School have retained its title by romping to a dominant win at the Ashanti Region Qualifiers for the Sprite Ball Championship.

KGEE beat T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School 7-0 in the final game of the female category at Opoku Ware School’s Court.

After getting past the likes of Toase, Kumasi Anglican and Islamic Senior High Schools respectively, KGEE bossed former regional champions to clinch a winning result without conceding a point in the process.

Kumasi Girls head to the next edition of the national games in confident mood after wrapping up a second straight win at the regional level. The team finished in second place at the 2016 December competition.

Islamic Senior High clinched third place ahead of St. Louis Senior High School who missed out on the final spot after falling 7-8 to Kumasi Girls in the semifinal; Islamic won the tie 3-2.

However, the male category is still undecided following Prempeh College’s stalemate with reigning national and regional champions Opoku Ware.

With the score tied at 16 and heading to overtime, the game was postponed due to poor visibility at the venue. The rescheduled game will be played on Monday November 6 at the same venue at 11:00 GMT.
