Ghana Police has ended CYO’s five game winning streak in the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II in dominant fashion.
The veteran side dropped CYO with a 73-57 win at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu in the opening league game of the round.
Akatsi Rifles and Navy Warriors played the second game immediately with Rifles falling 41-79 to Warriors; the loss is Akatsi’s fifth of the season meaning the team is winless in the ongoing campaign and maintains its position in the last three spots in the standings.
Police headed to the fixture in third place having played a game fewer than CYO but brushed aside the latter’s challenge to clinch its sixth straight win of the season.
The win ends CYO’s winning run but the team goes to the summit of the standings due to a superior number of outings than Police and Reformers of Prisons. Prisons will be in action on Saturday September 30 against Novas Academy.
After winning all five fixtures, Police has ten points one behind CYO and the veteran team looks good for a return to the elite division.
