Tema Basketball League Lead Organizer Fred Yeboah is celebrating his birthday today as he marks another significant year in his basketball filled life.
The hoops lifer is the main brain behind the Tema League which was launched in 2016 and has quickly developed to one of the most followed leagues in Ghana.
Yeboah has been heavily involved in the sport as a player before focusing his attention to creating a platform for the next generation of players.
He featured in the 2011 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship placing second with University of Education-Winneba and played several years for Ghana’s National Team.
Yeboah has been front and center of the division’s surge in popularity throughout the West African country in a very short period.
In the space of 14 months, teams competing in the division have risen from seven in the inaugural season to 14 in the ongoing campaign.
The 2017 postseason is set to commence on Sunday October 1 with games involving defending champions Nungua Coldstore, home side Tema Community 4 and Ghana Police lined up in Group A and Group B.
