Brimah blocks shot against Temple University.

Brimah is likely to back up Pau Gasol next season.
Ghana and former University of Connecticut (UCONN) Center Amida Brimah is in line to back two time NBA Champion Pau Gasol after earning a call up to San Antonio Spurs Training Camp roster.

The ace defender was named as a member of the Spurs 19 man team for the camp with an eye to reduce the number 15 to meet the NBA’s guaranteed number of spot for the upcoming season.

San Antonio Spurs open its season with a game at the AT&T Center in a home game against the newly rebooted Minnesota Timberwolves on October 18.

Ahead of the game, Brimah is likely to make the cut considering San Antonio has just one player-fellow rookie Matt Costello-equipped to man the spot aside the 2002 Draft Pick Gasol.

As an athletic, shot blocking albeit raw Center with huge upside, the former UCONN Captain can easily fill the role left behind by Atlanta Hawks new recruit DeWayne Dedmon whose value skyrocketed after a year with the team.

With the 37 year old Gasol expected to be rested extensively in the next season, Amida is likely to play lenghty periods for the five time NBA Champions.

In four years at UCONN, Brimah averaged 2.5 blocks per game and won the National Championship in 2014.
