Tema Heat (white) clinched a five point win over Navy in a previous matchup.

Navy has been very good in the Tema League. Navy (blue) blew out Warriors.
This year’s Tema Basketball League playoffs is set to commence in a few hours at Tema’s Community 4 Court today.

The exciting fixtures will be the first of three rounds scheduled to be honored in the postseason to decided which team is crowned champion of one of the fastest rising leagues in the country.

Defending champions Nungua Coldstore fittingly open the season with an interesting tie against Junior Reformers at 15:30 GMT.

Despite placing fourth in Group A following the conclusion of the regular season, Reformers is the only team to beat Coldstore. Nungua lost the game 33-36 in stunning fashion.

The second game will be played between Ashaiman Lions and Ghana Police with Group A’s second seed taking on new rival Police who placed third.

Police’ position at season’s end was down to a 53-65 loss to Ashaiman in the final game of the regular season and with three possible games to be played in the playoffs, this tie definitely has a lot in store for fans.

For Group B, Tema-based teams dominate the field with three sides picking up three of the four available spots in the postseason.

Leaders and home side Community 4 is up against Ghana Navy while an all Tema showdown is at hand with Tema Community 2 set to take on Tema Heat.

Despite placing second in the group, Community 2’s tendency for coming up in big games could be the major weapon to get through to the Group’s Final Game.

On the other hand, C4’s valiant fans played a key role in getting the team to regular season standings summit and the Under 19 Youth Title and the unflinching support will be counted on to spur the team on.
