Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Chairman David Addo Ashong has bemoaned the scant resources available to the national body limiting it’s involvement in the sport.
He made the statement in a recent interview with veteran Broadcaster Yaw Sakyi Afari in an appearance on popular basketball television show “Courtside” on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
The long time head of the West African country’s basketball association was candid in his assessment of his organization’s limited financial outlets.
“We don’t have the resources” he stated on the two hour show which has been a prime attraction on the screens since it’s maiden episode little under a year ago.
However, he was quick to highlight what the association is capable of in terms of technical support; stating “GBBA can provide technical support but we don’t have the resources”.
Despite a huge pool of talent, Ghana’s development in basketball is capped by inadequate financial resources affecting logistics and infrastructure alike.
Recently, the country qualified to compete at Under 16 African Championship in Mauritius but did not honor the competition due to financial challenges.
Courtside airs on Sunday from 16:00 to 18:00 GMT.
