Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong has emphasized his recognition of the high level of interest in basketball in Ghana’s youth.
He made the statement on renowned basketball television show “Courtside” which airs on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sport during the final episode of quiz segment “Jump Ball”.
Making an appearance on the show to hand out prizes to winners of the educative program, the veteran Administrator acknowledged the deep knowledge of basketball issues in in the country and on the international stage.
Speaking to Anchor Yaw Sakyi Afari, President said, “People are beginning to take notice of the high level of interest in basketball especially among the youth”.
He went on to describe the contestants insight in the sport as “intimidating”. Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Pharmacy Student Sani Alhassan won first place earning 1000 Ghana Cedis, two basketball and a shopping voucher.
Etornam Kudolo and Emmanuel Pratt walked away with 300 and 200 Ghana Cedis in cash prize, balls and shopping vouchers respectively; the segment was sponsored by Sports Retail shop Decathlon and Ocean Spring Water.
Courtside airs on Sunday between 16:00 and 18:00 GMT.
