Nungua Coldstore has beaten Ghana Police for the second time in the 2017 Tema Basketball League regular season courtesy a 47-39 win earlier tonight at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
The defending league champions beat Police 53-23 in the first matchup played a couple of weeks ago and prevailed once more in the top game of today’s round of games.
The score was tied at 12 at the end of the first quarter but Coldstore Guard Joy Ofori Dadiboe’s pair of three point shots gave his side a 23-18 lead at the end of the first half.
Dadiboe continued his exploits from the three point line by adding another pair of conversions with Nana Owusu Afriyie throwing in a couple of three point shots of his own. One of such shots came on the back of a nasty crossover on Police Guard Benjamin Debrah.
Police’ shooting woes cost the side dearly as many shots went amiss with the experienced side falling to 26-43 deficit heading to the final quarter.
However, Police recovered well to start the fourth quarter superbly with a 10-0 run including layups from Debrah and backcourt teammate Emmanuel Dickson with Coldstore committing several turnovers.
Nungua Guard Edwin Appiah ended the run with a three point shot to end the very physical tie that had several altercations.
