Teams representing Greater Accra Region have won gold in male and female divisions in the 2017 Ghana Basketball Festival held in Cape-Coast.
The annual competition which took place at the University of Cape-Coast’s plush indoor edifice has ended with teams representing the West African country’s capital region emerging tops.
That means Accra has won the top prize for a second straight year replicating last year’s success which took place at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium.
Players from multiple teams in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I came together to make up the winning team including Tudu Magic’s Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Fire Service’ Dennis Dugbennu.
Ghana Police finished in second place after falling to Accra in the final game and Reformers of Prisons came third just as it did a year ago.
In the female division, a new look Tudu Galaxy side topped the competition to win gold ahead of Braves of Customs and Reformers of Prisons.
Other regions including Western Region and Ashanti Region competed in the event; Promasidor Ghana Limited sponsored the event.
