University of Ghana (UG) has ended the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division regular season in last place.
The tertiary side was the worst performing side in the five team division after placing fifth in the standings following the closure of the campaign.
UG ended the season on a bad note after losing 13-69 to Fire Service who finished a spot above but hold a sizable point difference.
Players from Ghana’s premier university recorded three wins in 16 games played in the campaign translating to 17 points.
As a result of its underwhelming record, the team has missed out on a spot in the postseason; only teams in the top four spots progress to the next stage.
Despite having a good start to the campaign, UG lost its way midway through the season and accumulated several losses along the way.
Defending champions Braves of Customs, Ghana Navy, Tudu Galaxy and Fire have made it through the regular season. UG fared poorly against regular season champion Customs falling to 27-90 and 20-74 losses to the title favorites.
