Reigning champs Senegal.
Regional powerhouses Senegal and Nigeria headline Group B of the upcoming Women’s Africa Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) following the draw for the Championship in Bamako,Mali.

The West African pair have been drawn alongside Egypt, Guinea and Mozambique; The final spot in the group is yet to be taken by either Gabon, DR Congo or Central African Republic in Zone 4.

Qualifiers in the zone begin next month.

Reigning Champions Senegal and bronze medal winners in the last Championship Nigeria are clear favorites to progress from the group into the knockout phase.

In Group A however, 2015 silver medalist Cameroon and fourth placed side Angola are also expected to progress to the next stage.

The above mentioned countries have been drawn with Mali, Tunisia and Ivory Coast; the wild card spot be determined prior to the tournament.

Competition takes place between August 18-27 in the Malian capital and the top two sides from the tournament qualify for the World Cup.
