Reigning Tema Community Basketball League Champions Nungua Coldstore continues to boss strong rival Ashaiman Lions with the champs inking another win over Lions.

Coldstore beat Lions 55-48 in the latest action between the two rivals in a headline grabbing game at the Tema Community 4 Court.

The game which was the last of four played at the venue did not disappoint as both sides traded baskets and top skill in an entertaining matchup.

Coldstore Shooting Guard Jonathan Walker set the tone with two quick three point shots but Lions Dennis Dugbennu and Elvis Pobi-Siaw returned the favor. Power Forward Enoch Borsah got the final act of the first quarter down as he grabbed an offensive rebound before scoring a layup to give Coldstore a 16-12 lead.

Pobi-Siaw and Dugbennu combined with the latter scoring a beautiful layup but Lions defense went to sleep allowing Borsah an easy two handed slam to put Nungua 25-16 ahead. 2016 Defensive Player of the Year Carl Kuzagbe halted Nungua’s scoring run with a three point shot to reduce the deficit to five (22-27) at the end of the first half.

Lions got a 29-28 lead following Daniel Amartey’s three pointer and a jumper from Pobi-Siaw. However, Lions ceded the game’s lead to Nungua to close the third quarter 37-33. Borsah wrapped matters up with a monster alley oop slam off an assist from Emmanuel Wolff.

This was the first meeting between the sides after Nungua beat Ashaiman to lift the 2016 title.
