AK Rifles has clinched its first win of the Tema Community Basketball League following a 28-24 win over Don Bosco Giants in the latest round of games played at the Tema Community 4 Court.
The team’s maiden win of the ongoing 2017 campaign had lots of ups and down’s in the closely contested game but it was the side from Akatsi in Ghana’s Volta Region that made it through; the win gives the team the same number of wins as Bosco for the season.
Getting off to a terrific 7-0 start to end the first quarter, Rifles battles to stay clear off fouling out of the game forced the likes of Denis Ayivor to the bench which was exploited by Bosco.
An Aziz Yambe inspired run reduced Rifles lead to one point (11-10) heading into the second half before getting the game lead (18-16) through another conversion behind the arc.
Rifles Guard Makafui Agudzemegah returned the favor to put his side back in the lead; a lead which it didn’t surrender to secure a well deserved win.
Aside a walkover win over Adenta Leopards, Bosco has failed to secure a win.
