Fire Service’ 53-51 win over Ghana Navy has earned the side its second consecutive win of the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division and more importantly its first winning run in two seasons.
The side won just a game all season long last year and started the ongoing campaign on a similar not e as the team recorded just a win in the first round with a 36-32 win over University of Ghana (UG).
However, another win over UG, this time a 42-31 victory, improved Fire’s win tally over last season’s before the pulsating matchup against Navy.
The team’s latest win is more remarkable considering Fire trailed through all three quarters preceding the final section of the game where inspired play from the women in red tipped the scale in their favor.
Unlike last year, a lot more on the roster are chipping in on the offensive end which eases the burden on standout Guard Carlyn Adjei.
Fire plays league leaders Tudu Galaxy next in the final game of the campaign.
