The 2016-2017 season of the Global Sporting Projects (GSP) Basketball League in Sunyani recently ended with University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) winning the title for the first time.
However, defeated champs Suncity Braves per reports are not happy with the treatment meted out to them in the wake of UENR’s title clinching campaign.
As a result the side has reportedly threatened to not feature in the next campaign; they did so on the night the team suffered a 25-26 loss to UENR and relinquish its hold on the trophy in the process.
Conversely, news filtering in, point to the league’s board preparedness to address the situation should Braves follow through with their threat as management has lined up two teams to compete in the third season of the league.
Should that happen, the roster for the next campaign will stand at nine; an increase from the eight team list that competed in the just ended campaign; Seven teams played out the maiden edition.
