Ghana Navy failed to score a single point in the second quarter of a 19-28 loss to Tudu Galaxy in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
This season’s high flying team was easily handled by the home side who capitalized on a shock profligacy from Navy in the second stanza of the game to clinch a crucial win.
Falling 2-7 in the opening minutes, Navy took the first quarter lead with a 10-8 advantage. However, the team’s slew of shooters went cold from the field as neither Grace Yinamyah, Memuna Mumuni, Agyemang Kusi and Maria Mensah found joy shooting the ball.
Navy found the bottom of the net with four minutes left to play in the third quarter as Kusi buried a deep three point shot.
Mensah added another from beyond the three point arc but that will prove not enough to avoid a second loss in the season.
Heading into the game, Navy held a two game advantage over league leaders Galaxy and Braves of Customs and a win over Galaxy would have put the side in a stronger position to fight for the title.
