University of Ghana (UG) has pulled off a stunning win over league leaders Tudu Galaxy by beating them 31-29 in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
The shock result was followed up by Braves of Customs 42-32 win over Fire Service in an unsurprising win for last season’s champions.
Heading into the tie, UG ranked bottom of the standings with four points from just a win in four games played but that didn’t faze the tertiary side as they delivered a big win in the face of a partisan crowd at the venue.
The result means Galaxy’s lead in the division is under threat after second placed side Braves won its tie against Fire.
Coming off two straight losses, Braves ended the slide with a comfortable 10 point win margin over Fire who look are in danger of repeating last season’s spot at the end of of the campaign.
Fire finished last in the 2016 standings.
