Bentil in action for Fort Wayne.
Aside being the first Ghana-born player to play in the NBA, Fort Wayne Mad Ants Forward Ben Bentil has stated he wants to be known as the guy who “gave back”.

In an interview with Basketballghana.com, the burly Forward stated his desire to be known for something more than being the first NBA player born in the West African nation.

He made it known after he headlined a press conference regarding his foundation-The Ben Bentil Foundation- and his upcoming Basketball Skills Camp to be held in Takoradi and Accra.

“Aside being the first Ghanaian ever to play, the guy that gave back. I want this skills camp to be something like forever, something that is never going to stop even when I hang it up its going to be something done in my memory…I want this to be a permanent thing for me and the whole Ghana”.

The Skills Camp first edition takes place on Saturday, April 29 at the Takoradi Technical University Court for players under 18.

Bentil was in the midst of mentor and University of Ghana Coach Meme Falconer, Ghana Basketball Association Vice President Iddi Agambire and representatives from Promasidor Ghana Limited.
