Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Ghana Power Forward Ben Bentil has stated his plans to establish a foundation to help develop and open doors to greater opportunities for basketball talents in the West African country.
Dubbed the Ben Bentil Foundation, the non profit organization is “to give back, try to help kids get scholarships to study abroad” according to former Boston Celtics draftee in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of a press conference held in his honor.
He further stated his desire to expand the program to incorporate young individuals with diverse talent.
“For now it will probably be off basketball because that’s how we are going to start…but as time goes on my dream is to really wanna expand make kids go anywhere in the world not just the United States but anywhere in the world they wanna go and whatever they wanna do”
The Sekondi native will hold a basketball in the other half of the Twin City, Takoradi on Saturday April 29 at the Takoradi Technical University.
The camp will be held in conjunction with Ghana’s Western Basketball Association.
Bentil is the first Ghana-born player to be drafted into the NBA subsequently making his debut in the the league for Dallas Mavericks.
