Thanks to a narrow 17-15 win over West Siders, defending champions of the Global Sporting Projects (GSP) Basketball League, Suncity Braves, are close to have winning the 2016-2017 title.

The title holders win put the side just a game away from the league title after close rival and second placed side Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints lost 15-26 to University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in the final game of the round.

The results mean Braves get a two point lead over CUCG heading into the final game of the season and the team’s superior goal difference means Suncity is guaranteed a title irrespective of what transpires in the upcoming fixtures.

However. UENR’s outstanding game against Barracks Scorpions later today could potentially put a hold on Braves title drams till the final day of the season on April 29.

LIR Royals topped Barracks Scorpions with a 25-24 win but the game between Desert Rabbits and Sunyani Technical University (STU) failed to be honored as the tie has been postponed to Monday April 24 at the Eusbett Hotel Court in Sunyani. The game will be honored today after the Scorpions-UENR game.

Below is a breakdown of the standings in Braves second straight title winning season:
