Ghana Navy is in line for a first win of the season as the side prepares to take on AK Rifles in the Tema Community Basketball League later today at the Tema Community 4 Court.
The game comes as pleasant distraction from the underwhelming performances of the side in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I.
Navy is winless in five games played in the Accra League but has yet to play in Tema. Today’s fixture is the side’s debut matchup in the league against another first timer in the league, AK Rifles. Adenta Leopards play Don Bosco to round up games in Group B.
In Group A, defending champions Nungua Coldstore take on Korle-Bu Kings in what is expected to be a tough matchup in the opening game of the round.
The next matchup has Ghana Police play Community 12 in what will be Police’ first game of the season; both Navy and Police joined the expanded league format this year after competing in the preseason.
Navy placed third while Police crashed out early.
