Tema Youth and Fire Service have recorded respective wins over Tudu Magic and DC Dynamics in the latest round of games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Tema opened the round by beating home side Magic 84-73 prior to Fire Service’ close 61-57 win over Dynamics.
Magic looked out of sorts early on in the game particularly in the second quarter as Tema extended a two point lead at half time (19-17) to 40-28 at the end of the first half.
A flurry of fastbreak points off turnovers from Magic built up Tema’s lead with Point Guard Marco Mensah scoring consecutive layups and Shooting Guard Jonathan Walker converting a three point shot.
The final quarter descended into three point shooting contest between Tema’s Ebenezer Borsah and Magic’s Elvis Pobi-Siaw who traded shot after beyond the three point mark as both teams went for the jugular. In the end, Tema’s sizable lead in the first half proved the difference maker in the matchup.
Matters in the first quarter of DC Dynamics game against Fire Service were similar to those in the opening tie as several missed chances and broken plays characterized the game early on with Fire edging out DC 16-10.
The game finally began to live up to the billing from then on with Dynamics Guard Lantei Blankson-Mills scoring four straight points to pull within three points of Fire’s lead (18-21) with 6:21 left to play in the second quarter.
The Guard combined with nicely with Center Dennis Boateng for a three point shot to end the half down by two.
Fire Small Forward Farahat Tamimu scored four straight points to begin proceedings in the second half before David Okoe Laryea ripped through Dynamics with 13 points. Sena Asante replicated such form for DC with a couple of buckets from the three point line with time expiring.
Dynamics is still winless this season while Fire is yet to lose a game.
