Fire Service remains unbeaten in the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I season with a 61-57 win over DC Dynamics the latest in the line of wins for the side.
Fire has won all four games this season and is in line to finish the first round of the season on top of the standings considering the side has played a game fewer than its top rivals. The tie against Dynamics was scheduled to be honored on April 5 but got postponed due to challenges at the venue.
Fire led through the entire game but had to deal with Dynamics fight every time it seemed Fire was running away with the result.
After starting poorly, both teams showed off their tremendous potential with beautiful plays highlighted by Fire Guard Gilbert Wood’s crossover on David Maja on his way to a tough layup in the final quarter.
Conversely, Fire failed to build up on several big leads as DC chipped away with Lantei Blankson-Mills scoring four straight points and combining well with Center Dennis Boateng to bury a three point shot.
Fire Forward’s Benjamin Sowah and Farahat Tamimu scored in the post and free throw line respectively to cool off Dynamics run. Shooting Guard David Laryea caught fire and scored 13 points including three conversions from beyond the arc.
