Hoops Care International has beaten Impression Basketball Academy to start life in an international juvenile basketball tournament the team is competing in.
The Cape-Coast based side beat Impressions 17-14 in the first of four games in the preliminary round in the tournament that has ten teams with Hoops Care being the sole non Nigerian representative.
Though the team young team lost 27-39 in a friendly game in the lead up to the start of the competition, the team was able to come through with a win that puts it on track for the grand prize.
Coach Alfred Davies commented on the win stating, “Good game and great exposure”.
Hoops experienced financial problems to compete in the tournament but the benevolence of individuals and corporate organizations proved immense to get the side to the West African basketball hub.
Hoops Care has over the years been a stable for developing basketball talents in Ghana including 2016 Boston Celtics draftee Ben Bentil.
