Democratic Republic of Congo’s Male National Basketball Team is set to have the services of Orlando Magic Center Bismarck Biyombo and Denver Nuggets Point Guard Emmanuel Mudiay for the upcoming Africa Basketball Championship, AfroBasket, this year.
The biannual competition takes place between August 19-30 in Brazzaville, Congo Republic and will have 16 teams including the host team compete for the chance to dislodge reigning champions Nigeria.
DR Congo secured a spot in the Championship by beating regional rival Central African Republic on aggregate in a two game series in March.
Biyombo and Mudiay are yet to compete for Congo in an international competition with Mudiay having spent a major part of his life in the United States of America.
Both players have been penciled to play in the second NBA Africa Game which takes place on August 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The pair have missed out on the NBA playoffs; Mudiay’s Nuggets failed to make the playoff after losing 105-106 to Oklahoma City Thunder.
