Defending champions of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division Braves of Customs have jettisoned to the league standings summit in light of a string of dominant performances in the 2017 season.
The multiple time league winners started the new campaign on a shaky note dropping to a 29-31 loss to Tudu Galaxy in the opening game of the season.
The win was more bizarre considering Galaxy was shorthanded having only six players available.
However, Braves has recovered well posting a 45-28 win over University of Ghana (UG) in its recent matchup.
The side’s recovery is more remarkable considering the side is playing without talismanic Forward Matilda Gordon.
The reigning Most Valuable Female Player of the Year is yet to fully recover from a serious knee injury.
With the exception of Fire Service, the remaining teams in the league have five points; only goal differences separate the teams.
