Quarshie in action for UENR against Sunayni Technical University in last year’s qualifiers.
Led by Guard Robert Brew, UENR has made it to this year’s quarterfinals.

Quarshie was part of UENR’s team in the 2016 quarterfinals.
University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR’s) roster for the upcoming 2017 UPAC Basketball Championship quarterfinals is without influential Center Benjamin Quarshie.

The lanky top shot blocker nicknamed “Ibaka” is not with the team this year which lands UENR in a tough spot to make it out of Group B.

The group has UENR, record winners Accra Technical University (ATU), All Nations University College and University of Development Studies (UDS-Tamale).

Quarshie was one of UENR’s bright spots as the Sunyani-based side made its debut in last year’s competition before exiting in the quarterfinals. Despite his absence, UENR has made it through the preliminary qualifiers beating Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) in the process.

UENR is in the hunt for a top two finish to make it to the semifinals for the first time in the competition’s history.

Reigning champions University of Ghana (UG) headlines Group A with arch rivals Marshalls University College, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and University of Cape-Coast.
