Missing free throws cost Bosco (black) a win.

C5 (red) lost Lions.
Ashaiman Warriors have emerged top in the Ashaiman derby by beating Don Bosco Giants 24-18 at the Tema Community Basketball League Group B matchup.

The game which took place at Tema’s Community 4 basketball court between the two sides based in the municipality in Ghana’s capital region Accra, was physical and very scrappy for long stretches.

However, it was Bosco who started off brightly by scoring six straight points before Warriors solitary converted goal came from the free throw line and end proceedings in the first quarter.

The Warriors picked up in form in the remaining quarters to lead the game 12-11 midway through the second quarter before wrapping up the first half courtesy a 14-11 lead.

Point Guard Mannaseh Morkli of the Warriors came up with big plays down the stretch as tensions heightened.

With his side holding a 21-16 lead heading into the final quarter, Morkli produced the game’s highlight play with a nifty crossover before nailing a three point shot en route to securing the winning start for his side.

The young Bosco side caught the eye with good ball movement but profligacy cost the side a win in the side’s opening game of the season.

In other games, Coldstore beat Teshie Rangers 39-11, Ashaiman Lions beat Community 5 46-27 and Community 4 beat AK Rifles 39-31.
