2016 Tema Community Basketball League finalists Nungua Coldstore and Ashaiman Lions have began the 2017 Tema Community Basketball League season by recording wins in their respective games played at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
Coldstore beat Teshie Rangers 39-11 in the opening game of the round of games before Lions followed it up with a 47-26 win over Community 5.
Despite the absence of Enoch Borsah in the Coldstore lineup, the defending champions had no problems whipping debutant in the Community League.
Both sides are housed in the league’s Group A and are set to face off on Sunday April at the same venue.
In Group B, Community 4’s backcourt duo of Aninagyei Osei and Kent Fosu were crucial for the side’s 39-31 win over AK Rifles as Don Bosco Giants lost the all Ashaiman derby to Ashaiman Warriors with an 18-24 loss.
Fosu came off the bench in the third quarter to convert a three point shot but fouled out some minutes later; C4 won the third quarter 32-27 and went on to win the game.
Warriors Guard Manasseh Morkli was in fine form as he powered his side to beat Bosco and claim bragging rights over the fellow Ashaiman side.
