Braves of Customs has produced arguably the standout performance of the2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I season following a 100-46 annihilation of Adenta Leopards in the just ended round of games at the Lebanon House in Tudu.
The final game of the round had Tudu Magic end a two game losing run by beating Ghana Navy 50-38; Navy is yet to win a game in four games played this season.
Despite leading 70-31 at the end of the third quarter, Braves offensive power didn’t let up as the defending champions continued to pound the division’s new entrants. Jeffrey Djimatey sank a buzzer beating three point shot to end affairs in the third quarter.
Shooting Guard Baniba Dodzie drained multiple uncontested three point shots as Leopards defense deteriorated particularly in the second half.
On the other hand, Braves offense was constantly fed by frenetic activity on defense which led to several fastbreak points. MVP duo in Suleman Abubakar and Mutalib Alhassan came off the bench down the stretch to compound the misery of Adenta with Abubakar slamming home a huge dunk.
A quick fire start from Magic proved vital to get a win over Navy and win its first in three games. The first twelve points registered in the game, came from behind the arc with Magic’s Eric Quaye and Elvis Pobi-Siaw getting the better of Ernest Ofori’s sole three point conversion for Navy.
Magic’s good ball movement opened the Navy defense up on several occasions including a neat combination between Steven Forster and Shadrack Nii Kortey which ended with the veteran latter scoring from the arc.
Nii Lamptey took on scoring from there on to power Magic to a 33-24 lead at the end of the third quarter. After a slow start, Navy Center Eric Adoku rediscovered his scoring touch as he drained two three point baskets.
