The 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarterfinal draw is to be balloted live on basketball television show “Courtside” on Sunday, April 2 on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.

The knockout phase of the competition takes place at the University of Ghana on April 7 and April 8.

While six of the quarterfinalists including defending champions University of Ghana (UG) have played at this stage before in the championship’s four year history, All Nations University College and University of Development Studies (UDS -Tamale) are debutants at this stage of the competition.

This is All Nations first time competing in the Championship but the Koforidua-based side has already made headlines by qualifying ahead of 2016 quarterfinalist Valley View University in Zone B. The side won all games to top the zone and secure a spot.

UDS made it to the quarters last year but failed to make an appearance due to administrative reasons.

However, UDS got an invitation to compete from organizers Rite Sports Limited in this year’s edition to represent the Northern Region.

The side placed third at the 7th Mini GUSA Games Basketball tournament held in January.
