Tema Youth has extended its winning streak in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I by beating Adenta Leopards 64-39 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu. The division’s only game of the round paired the sides who had a pair of wins each.
The matchup was billed to be another epic matchup between the veteran side and young Leopards side but the end result reflected proceedings in the game. As a 23-16 first half lead for Tema, turned into an absolute rout.
Tema flexed its deep roster by grabbing the win despite the absence of several players including McMartey Lawer and Enoch Borsah. Point Guard Aninagyei Osei failed to complete a three point play before Charles Annan of Leopards sank a jump shot to end the half.
Leopards Center David Pinto converted one of two free throws to halt a six point run by Tema early in the third quarter. Ebenezer Borsah span and drained a turnaround jump shot. Tema moved the ball very well which ended in consecutive open three point shots from Guard Marco Mensah.
Pinto fouled out in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter but Adenta’s stagnant play was its own enemy as turnovers continued to rack up. Kwame Boamah Djan stole the ball and dished an assist for Mensah to score.
Tema’s defensive intensity did not let up as Djan’s block ended in another layup from Mensah. Adenta Guard Edwin Appiah scored an eye catching drive in one of Leopard’s sole bright moves.
