Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I debutant Adenta Leopards has lost its first game since gaining promotion from the lower tier to the elite division.
The hitherto unbeaten side lost 39-64 to Tema Youth to have its winning run in the league halted.
Leopards had won two games prior to the midweek encounter at the Lebanon House including a close 53-50 win over Ghana Navy.
However, Leopards impressive play thus far in the young season came unstuck against a Tema side that is hell bent on winning the league title.
A combination of poor play and the absence of players including starting Guard Joel Tham and Maxwell Mod resulted in a poor display which represented anything but what fans have come to expect from the side over the past few weeks.
A 16-23 loss in the first half quickly turned in favor of Adenta who trailed 28-29 in the early minutes of the third quarter.
That mark was to be the closest Adenta got to Tema as the latter moved the ball extremely well to carve out openings in the Leopards defense resulting in uncontested three point shots.
Adenta takes on defending champions Braves on Friday March 31 at the same venue.
